landscapes . week 14

This week I got an art education!
Andrew, my husband, is also an artist. He's full-time in the art business (www.growcreativesolutions.com) and is active in the 'community events' that artists in our town put on.

Andrew ventured on a huge task and learning curve on Saturday: The Western Cape's first Plein Air Festival. 50 artists from around Cape Town gathered at 7:30am to claim a spot in this madness. Once you pinned your name on the location you wanted to paint, you set up your easel and didn't move for 8 hours. Each artist had 8 hours to produce one artwork for auction. He stood all day, entertained guests as they came by to see him work, and then with knots in our stomache, waited to see if the painting would sell.

And it sold!

We were so pleased to learn about this community of artists, see what sort of artwork was most appealing to the buyers and make connections with others in the field.
