cinnamon rolls

Get creative in the kitchen!
I've been trying to resurrect old recipes that I used to love (or were crowd pleasers). This one has sentimental value. I learned it in home economics in high school and have adapted it over the years wherever I lived ... hence it went from Bisquick base to making a biscuit dough from scratch. Personally I love the 'from scratch' recipe as I know exactly what I'm making it with and no hidden preservatives. But can we really make a fuss about preservatives when you use real butter and slather it on good!

Here's one of my favorite feel-good Saturday morning recipes:

Melanie's Cinnamon Rolls

Directions
Make biscuit dough.
Roll out dough on floured surface to approximately 1/2 inch thickness.
Melt 1-2 tbs butter & spread over biscuit dough.
Sprinkle white sugar, brown sugar & cinnamon over butter.
Roll tightly.
Cut into 1 inch segments.
Place in greased glass dish.

Bake on 190'C (375'F) for 12-15 min.

Biscuit dough
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
4 tbs butter, chilled
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cups milk

Combine dry. Add wet. Stir until comes together, but don't over knead.

Icing
3 tbs milk
1 cup sifted icing sugar

Heat on stove.
Pour over warm cinnamon rolls.
