I love a festive gathering. A reason to decorate, bring people together, use all your senses to celebrate something (winter, friends, a craving for a catch up, an itch to bake). .
Today was our 8th annual #christmasinjune party. Being in the southern hemisphere, 24-25 June feels exactly like Alabama in Dec... hence a festive feeling. Today is 55'F and rainy in Cape Town. I've used this time of year as a way to share the sights, sounds and tastes of America Christmas with my South African friends and family. And what a fun way to have Christmas 2 times a year! .. On today's menu: Wassil (apple and orange juice with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg) Firecrackers (ranch & chilli flakes on crackers) Sugar cookies Muddy Buddies (cereal, choc, peanutbutter) Butternut soup Tomato soup Fresh bread . .So here's to winter Christmas and a reason to gather people we love. |
